What is an Electric Vehicle (EV)?

An electric vehicle runs purely on electricity, with no petrol or diesel engine under the bonnet. Instead of filling up at the pump, you charge it at home or at a public charging point. They’re quiet, smooth to drive, and have far fewer moving parts than a traditional car, which means less to go wrong, but they still need regular checks and servicing.

What is a Hybrid Vehicle?

A hybrid has both a petrol or diesel engine and an electric motor with a small battery pack. The car decides when to use the engine, the motor, or both together, depending on how you’re driving. They don’t need plugging in the battery recharges itself while you drive. Hybrids are a popular choice for drivers who want to save fuel without going fully electric.

What is a Mild Hybrid Vehicle?

A mild hybrid is a halfway step. It still has a normal petrol or diesel engine, but with a smaller electric motor that helps with acceleration and fuel economy. The motor doesn’t power the car on its own, it just assists the engine. You don’t plug them in, and to most drivers they feel very similar to a traditional car, but with a bit more efficiency.

What We Can Do for EV & Hybrid

Electric and hybrid cars may be modern, but they still need good old-fashioned care. From routine servicing to brake and suspension work, we can handle most of the day to day jobs that keep your EV or hybrid safe, efficient, and ready for the road.
  • Servicing & Maintenance – manufacturer-recommended checks, oil and filter changes for hybrids, and safety inspections.
  • Brakes & Suspension – EVs are heavier than petrol cars, so brake and suspension wear is often greater, we can take care of it.
  • Tyres & Alignment – supply, fit and balance tyres suitable for EVs, plus wheel alignment.
  • General Mechanical Repairs – from exhaust work on hybrids to cooling system repairs and more.
  • Diagnostics & Fault Finding – our modern equipment can interrogate EV and hybrid systems.
